Meerut: A woman was proven guilty of murdering her husband by cutting him into pieces. A district court at Meerut sentenced her to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 25 thousand. In a horrific incident the woman had murdered her husband on 27th March 2012, which sent chills down the spine of locals at Ganganagar, Meerut. The court trial lasted for three years and 11 eyewitness and a lot of evidences were presented by the police in their final report.
The guilty Varsha Patel had intended to sell the said flat where she had buried her husband’s body and when a probable buyer Manju visited the home, she not only saw dozens of salt packets but also a section of the house where the times were newly laid. Varsha also covered the absence of her husband Rajendra Patel saying that he had gone to Gujarat. On finding this unbelievable and fishy, Manju enquired about the same with the neighbors and later complained to Police. Police later found the body of Rajesh Patel buried under the newly laid tiles. Manju was arrested immediately.
It was concluded that Manju had dissolved sleeping pills in her husband’s drink. When her husband was unconscious, she cut his throat of with a sharp knife. This killed the man immediately. She later dug up a hole in her home and buried the body there.
In what seems to be a cover up of the cold blooded murder, Manju told the investigators that if she hadn’t killed her husband, he would have killed her and her children.
As per the investigation, Rajesh and Manju had married reach other in 2002. It was a love marriage. After the marriage, Rajesh bought this home in Meerut. He later suspected that his wife Manju had extra marital affairs with others which lead to Manju committing the crime.
On hearing the sentence, Manju was sent to prison immediately. Rajesh’s children now stay with his relatives.
